The Members & Staff
of the East Pennsboro Area High School
“Panther” Marching Band are proud to present their 2011 program:
Climbing
the Alps has captured the imagination of man since humans first inhabited Europe,
in folklore, literature, art, film, and song. This year’s production portrays
the climb of one such alpine mountain through music and visual imagery.
The adventure begins
with mountain peaks rising over the horizon, as the climbing party reaches the
base of the mountain during an introduction featuring soloists Trent Deverter, Allison Rakocy, Andrew
Petit, and Becky Rhoades. Richard Saucedo’s “Snow Caps” forms the first part of
the production as our performers begin the long climb up an alpine peak.
Precarious moments soon abound, however, as an avalanche interrupts our ascent.
After barely surviving
the avalanche, Barry Milner’s “An Unending Legacy” brings our adventurers to a
rest, as we stop to take in the majesty of the mountain at twilight. The adventure
comes to a rousing conclusion as our performers race
to the summit.
The band wishes to
thank all of the parents, volunteers, teachers, and administrators for their
continued support.
